Pay Range

USD $98,384.00 - USD $122,980.00 /Yr.

Work Schedule Description (e.g. M-F 8am to 5pm)

M-Th 8am-7pm, CST; F 8am-6pm, CST (shifts vary)

Overview

Due to growth, we are adding Pharmacist, Clinical Consultation to our Lumicera Clinical Services department 

 

The Pharmacist, Clinical Consultation’s main duty is to perform telephonic consults with patients regarding the use of their specialty medication and management of their disease state. The Pharmacist, Clinical Consultation will perform medication reconciliation and screen for potential drug interactions. This individual may take calls from customers regarding issues, lost orders or dispensing errors, maintain daily production, quality and service levels, vary work priorities and activities to accommodate business needs. 

 

Ancillary tasks for the Pharmacist, Clinical Consultation will be to interpret physicians' prescriptions, contact doctors or other prescribers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions and expedite processing of orders. This position may also be responsible for dispensing medications within corporate and regulatory guidelines on-site to accommodate business needs. 

 

The Pharmacist, Clinical Consultation solves complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing solutions. The individual in this position works independently and receives minimal guidance with frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.

Responsibilities

How do I make an impact on my team?   

  • Consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions. 
  • Fills prescriptions for pharmaceutical preparations and devices for patients at company facilities; maintains accurate and detailed records of all prescription transactions, and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement; consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advises physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies; answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff; monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals. 
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians. Interpret physicians' or prescribers' prescriptions. Contact doctors and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription signatures, and drug name to expedite processing of orders. Verify and confirm validity of controlled substances. 
  • Verify prescription information entered in the system by data entry or order entry. Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization. Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs whenever possible. 
  • Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties as assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists. 
  • Documents and reports medication errors to direct supervisor. Facilitates error reduction and prevention methods based off errors and ISMP standards.

Qualifications

What our team expects from you?  

  • Graduate of ACPE Accreditation School of Pharmacy with a B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D, degree with current, unrestricted license required. Current resident Pharmacist license with current, unrestricted license; must continually maintain education credits to maintain active licensure  
  • Minimum of two years as a licensed Pharmacist preferred 
  • Preferred understanding of Specialty Pharmacy drugs including REMS and Limited Distribution Products best practices 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and ability to function independently and make decisions 
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with co-workers, other health providers, and patients 
  • Ability to: maintain confidentiality of information; understand, interpret, explain, and comply with laws, regulations, and policies governing pharmacy operations; compound a wide variety of drugs and medicines and maintain appropriate related records; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with fellow medical professionals and patients; develop harmonious professional relationships with clinic staff; counsel patients on proper use of medication; learn and apply principles and practices of supervision.  
  • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives 
  • The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
