Pay Range

USD $17.78 - USD $20.91 /Hr.

Overview

This role is an onsite position at our headquarters located at 361 Integrity Drive, Madison, WI 53717. 

 

Navitus Health Solutions is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to join our team!

 

The Managed Care Pharmacy Internship is for students that have completed their second full year of pharmacy school. The summer internship will provide experience in a managed care setting and careers opportunities as a pharmacist. The internship focuses on improving the student’s clinical knowledge, drug literature analysis, clinical writing, data analysis, and value assessment. The internship assists to develop additional skills including effective communication, proficient project management, and delivering presentations within a managed care environment. The diverse variety of experiences at Navitus will position the intern to pursue further practice in various managed care areas and managed care residencies. Interns will be involved in clinical projects with pharmacists in a wide range of departments, including specialty pharmacy, formulary operations, clinical programs, industry relations, drug information, and more. Typical duties and responsibilities include creating a drug monograph for quarterly Pharmacy & Therapeutics meetings, learning to use software to collect data and build formularies, data analysis, attending meetings, working on various projects one-on-one with pharmacists and residents, and various project presentations. This internship is a great experience for anyone who would like to develop their professional leadership and organizational skills and practice in the non-traditional corporate culture of pharmacy. Navitus Health Solutions is a full service, URAC-accredited pharmacy benefit manager (PBM).

Responsibilities

How do I make an impact on my team? 

  • Conduct medical literature searches to read and evaluate clinical trials
  • Prepare and propose formulary changes at the Formulary Advisory Committee
  • Analyze trends in price and member utilization within a drug class
  • Develop utilization management criteria
  • Maintain open lines of communication with other functional areas/departments
  • Lead development of program and products in a way designed to foster teamwork and maintain an outstanding customer service culture, including internal customers
  • Maintain an environment of collaboration and cooperation among departments
  • Provide effective communication of Navitus’ vision, mission, values, goals, and policies
  • Participate in meetings and committees regarding goals, vision, and strategic plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What our team expects from you?

  • Completion of the DPH-2 year. CPhT preferred
  • Skills needed for this internship include self-motivation, time management, the ability to work independently and on a team, proficient writing and a basic knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
  • The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
